Certified Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Paul M. Spezia

Laura Schmidt is a certified nurse practitioner who collaborates with Dr. Paul M. Spezia to provide care, including pre-op and post-op care, to patients with surgical and non-surgical orthopedic issues of the shoulders, elbows, hands, and knees. Additionally, Laura has a special interest in bone health and sees patients in our Bone Health Clinic, which is for individuals 50 years and older who have a history of fragility fractures.

Laura seeks to improve access and quality of care of those in our community who are at risk for compromised bone health and those who suffer from a fragility fracture. The goal of our Bone Health Clinic is to improve our patients’ quality of life by increasing awareness of bone health, identifying those at risk for compromised bone health, and initiating treatment plans to improve bone density and reduce the likelihood of fractures.

Committed to ongoing education, Laura is a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). She earned her certificate of completion for the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) program, a coordinated model of care that aims to deliver appropriate fracture risk assessments and treatment of osteoporosis to patients with fragility fractures.
