In the early stages of this condition, an enzyme injection directly into the hand is usually enough to allow the fingers to straighten out again. However, as the disease progresses, your surgeon may recommend surgery to remove the excess buildup of tissue.

Arthroplasty

Arthroplasty is joint replacement surgery, in which a damaged joint is removed and replaced with a prosthetic joint. This surgery can be performed in a damaged joint in the hand, and it’ll relieve your pain and help you regain some or all of your function in that joint. Typically, your orthopedist will only recommend surgery if less-invasive methods weren’t successful.
